Volunteers play a key role in enhancing the patient and visitor experience at UnityPoint Health - Meriter. If giving back to our community in a healthcare setting interests you; we encourage you to explore the numerous volunteer opportunities available for you.
Meeting the needs of our patients and visitors is the lens we use to shape our programs and their specific requirements. Our staff makes a significant investment to ensure you are prepared for a future volunteer role. We appreciate your desire to serve. Your experience is important; therefore, we want to make sure this is the right place and the right time for you to volunteer. Before getting started, please take a moment to review the How do I become a volunteer? section.

We do not maintain a waitlist for the NICU.
When a shift becomes available it is offered to all current volunteers who may want to transfer. Due to the extensive training required to volunteer in the NICU most volunteers spend one to eight years in this role. This means that open shifts in the NICU are limited.
